Audi’s New Internal Carbon Price Program

Audi is one of the leaders in automotive sustainability, focusing efforts on improved fuel economy, alternative options like battery-power, and reduced emissions. To support its dedication to sustainability, Audi made a commitment to lower its carbon footprint by 30 percent by 2025. However, there’s a vast difference between creating a goal and actualizing the steps to reach it. That’s why Audi has implemented an internal carbon price program. What is the Audi Internal Carbon Price Program?

The Audi Internal Carbon Price Program is a self-imposed fee proportional to the amount of CO2 and other emissions that result from the company’s U.S. operations. The fee will offset the emissions of business travel; employee commuting; fuel consumed by Audi of America fleet vehicles; building heat and energy; waste generation; purchased goods and services; and vehicle and parts transport. 

How does it work?

Any time Audi of America contributes to greenhouse gas emissions through the mentioned activities, it will apply the Internal Carbon Price. The funds will be sent to an account that is used for supporting corporate CO2 reduction strategies and improving sustainability.
