See the Most Iconic Audi Models
Audi has spent a lot of time pushing the boundaries of the automotive industry, and the results are pretty clear. Over the years, the automaker has created vehicles that not only perform well, but that also changed the industry at large. These iconic models became ingrained in the history of the car community when they were first introduced and continue to spark interest years later. The team here at Audi Silver Spring has put together some of our favorite Audi vehicles throughout the years to celebrate how much the brand has grown.
RS6 Avant
Overseas, the Audi RS6 Avant has always been one of the most popular models by the automaker. However, it was never offered in the United States. Recently, though, Audi has noticed that the market may be perfect to introduce this stunning sport wagon to the American market. For 2021, Audi is finally bringing one of the most renowned cars it has created to the U.S. This powerhouse will include astounding design and a powerful engine so that the entire family can enjoy the power of Audi.
TT
This German roadster was designed to pay homage to the round shape of racecars from the past, while drawing on modern techniques. This formula ended up giving the Audi TT more than ten years of success, as it slowly evolved from an understated powerhouse to an athletic vehicle built around the joy of driving. Today, this driving machine produces 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque from the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. That may not sound impressive, but when you take into account that most of that torque lives in the bottom and mid-range, you get a lightweight car that’s responsive off the line. Add in the standard quattro® all-wheel drive and you have the formula for success.
Quattro
The “Quattro” name has been around for a long time. It started, not as a reference to Audi’s remarkable all-wheel-drive system, but as the name of the first passenger car to feature an all-wheel drive, turbocharged drivetrain. Introduced in 1980, the Quattro broke all the rules and immediately gained a following for its superior handling, power, and racing capabilities. The turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine produced between 200 and 217 horsepower made the Quattro competitive in motorsports and an exhilarating car to drive on the road. Given how advanced the brand’s all-wheel drive system is today, it comes as no surprise that the Quattro had remarkable traction, regardless of road or track conditions.
R8
The list of iconic Audi models wouldn’t be complete without its groundbreaking supercar, the R8. The beast sports aggressive styling that turns heads and attains the power to back up the exterior impression. With a guttural 5.2-liter V10 engine, you’ll hear the R8 before you see it. You’ll hear all ten cylinders screaming as they produce up to 602 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, in the R8 V10 performance. Audi drive select and Audi magnetic ride allow you to completely customize the ride stiffness, handling, all-wheel drive system, and running gear components for a vehicle that’s perfectly in tune with the road and driver.
